Scripts for Churches
Over the past five-six years, I’ve written lots of scripts for churches around the country, most often for Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois. (Willow Creek has been using drama in worship services for over 25 years now, and their team brings high value and high skill levels to their work.) Many of my scripts are available through the Willow Creek Association. If you simply go their drama resources page and enter “Jeff Berryman” into the search engine, you will get a list of my scripts. If, after looking at the infomation on the Willow Creek web site, you still have questions about a certain script, just send me an email at jeffberryman@comcast.net, and I’ll be happy to answer as best I can.
You can also find links below to unpublished scripts of mine that are available for purchase. I’m working on including brief excerpts from each so can get a feel for them. If you are interested in buying the full script, simply drop me an email.
The Creche Collector – Summary coming soon…
Christmas…Honestly — Written and Performed at the Northwest Church in Seattle Christmas 2006, this is an evening of short scenes and songs exploring what the Christmas experience is really like. With ideas drawn from the congregation’s own experiences, this play is a full slate of comedy and pathos that will leave audiences with a full heart. The teaser is a look at Act I, with major portions of scenes and songs included.
Fasting For You - This play was recently toured by Taproot Theatre in Seattle as an Easter/Lenten offering. Simply put, a woman decides to give up her nearly-fiancee for Lent. He is not impressed. There are things to learn about Lent, sacrifice, and love in the ensuing 40-day (well, 46-day) journey.
Barabbus - Another story for Easter, this play concerns the man released by Pilate in lieu of Jesus. It takes place the night before the crucifixion. A harrowing tale of three prisoners facing death, each of them wondering just who this man Jesus is.
Centurion - Commissioned for Easter 2007, Centurion concerns the centurion on duty the day of Christ’s death. He struggles to grasp the meaning of what’s he’s just experienced, first among friends at his usual bar, then as he returns home to his young family.

Jeff,
It’s Melody. Greetings from Atlanta. The Coxes’ church, North Atlanta Church of Christ, is looking for a Christmas musical script. They typically get the packaged deals with the practice tapes and the works. Do you have anything that might work or know of anybody else’s stuff that is fresh? They have done Christmas Post more than Northwest has. Let me know if anything comes to mind.
